State Of Mine - Geargrinder EP & Split With The Octopussys

Here's "State of Mine". Belgian skatepunk at his best. Another great band of 90's style skatepunk. I didn't had much time to listen to them as I known them just recenlty but according to them it sounds like a mix of Belvedere, Satanic Surfers and Rich Kids On LSD ( RKL ). I have to say that I enjoyed my first State Of Mine listenings very much! It's the kind of music every skatepunk lover should like. So for those who aren't already aware of em' you gotta take the time to listen to this! I hope a full lenght to come out in 2010!! The first link is a 4 song EP and the second is a split with another band called "The Octopussys" As I said, I didn't had much time to listen so I don't have any opinion concerning the Octopussys but at first I'd say it's pretty good! The EP is out of print but the Split CD is available through Kickass Records.

I can admit without a doubt that this is in my top 3 release of 2009. This album is totally awesome. Pure swedish skatepunk with a 90's influence in the veins of satanic surfers. All the songs are great and are sticking in my head. I just can't stop listening to this one. It starts with a sweet little song to introduce us into this fast masterpiece, then "At Times Like These" puts in the flavor of the album, all the songs are at the right place and are flowing in very easily. This is the most listened album of my ipod along with IVS. You guys should all email them at fromthetracks@live.com and buy both this album and "This Machine And Eye" their other album which was at first an online release but is getting printed right now. "Recover" is out on Kickass Records, you can try to have it there too. I really think this band deserves a lot more attention in the punk rock scene. For those who live in Europe , don't miss your chance to catch them on tour. For us in America, let's pray for them to come and visit us in both Canada and USA! SUPPORT THEM !

Finally, I found myself a copy of the Abhorrance's full lenght. I was looking for stuff of this californian band since I've heard "Lowering The Spirits Of A Narcisstic Superhero" back in 2004. I thought they were dead until I saw their release on interpunk (5 years late) , which was a great surprise. This band is melting a lot of styles in this cd, from time to time it can sound punk , hardcore or metal. All at once. It isn't really classifiable I suggest you all to download this and take a listen ! I'll upload the 2004 album later on . It reminds me a lot of Odd Project's oldest stuff, it's sad they are on Hiatus according to their myspace. Don't try to find this album anywhere than here, I had to buy it to be able to order it because it isnt on any blog. I would have bought it anyway after listening !
